Tregunnel Hill Parking Survey

Planning for the future – do you want car parking in your area to be restricted to residents who live in the estate and to the businesses that operate there?
Now that your new roads have been adopted, there have been several complaints from local residents about the cars that invade your streets rather than park in the Tregunnel car park.

What can we do about it? We are we’re campaigning for the local Highways budget to continue in the new Council and, so that we can hit the ground running the moment the the new budget becomes available next year, we are conducting this informal survey now.

The main alternative seems to be:

1. More Yellow Line restrictions – Possibly seasonal although we observe a relatively high level of street parking even now out of season when the car park is free. There are already restrictions at the entrance to the estate. More lines might need more parking bays available for the employment units.
2. Residents Only Street Parking – currently the cost is £50 a year for the first permit (£75 for the second if space available, £0 if you don’t need a street parking place) Households can obtain books of tickets to enable family or friends to visit.
3. Do nothing – wait until we see the effect of the build at Tregunnel, if any..

The possible development of Tregunnel Hill car park complicates the issues. Unlike the Conservatives, we do not go in for knee jerk reaction, throwing ever more unlikely figures around; we are waiting to see what is proposed before coming to any conclusion whether to support or oppose – and the plans to develop an extra care housing estate to allow our senior citizens to prelong their independent living are being negotiated and changed every week.

We would be very grateful if you could respond to our short survey below:

Which of the potential solutions below would you support?

Can we keep you updated?
