Steven Daniell chosen as Newquay Treviglas candidate

Newquay Lib Dems are delighted to say that Treviglas town councillor Steven Daniell has been chosen as the Lib Dem Cornwall Council candidate for Treviglas by-election on Thursday August 9th. The ward includes Porth, Porth Bean and Henver and St Columb Minor.

The by-election has come about following the tragic and untimely death of Lib Dem Cornwall and town councillor Paul Summers.

Although this election has come about through desperately sad circumstances, Steven worked closely with Paul during their time together on Newquay Town Council on issues like protecting our coastline from development, preventing garden grabbing in Porth and will make an excellent Cornwall Councillor.

Steven Daniell has been a member of the Liberals since he was 16. He worked for many years in the hospitality and leisure industry - and has recently set up his own travel business. He is a qualified Chef and currently works part time in a local Supermarket while he is establishing
his business.

He takes an active part in the community, being on the committee that organises the twinning of the former Restormel area with Dithmarschen in North West Germany and he is proud to be a Newquay Lion. Like Lib Dem leader Vince Cable, Steven likes dancing too, being the first bloke on the floor at the recent Mayor's Civic Ball.

Because Paul was also on the town council there will be an election for the vacant seat on the same day. Pauline Avery is the Lib Dem candidate. Pauline lives in Rialton Heights and is a community stalwart and long-time Liberal. Many of you will know her as she worked for years at the Penhallow garage shop on Henver Road.
